Terms of Service

Updated October 2026

The service

Hijinks runs trivia, icebreaker and word games inside chat platforms: Slack, Discord and Telegram, and any other chat connected through our webhook API. The service is currently in private beta: it works, we run it in production, but access is by invitation and you may hit rough edges and occasional downtime.

Acceptable use

Plans & billing

Paid plans open at launch. Prices are flat per organization, never per user, and are shown in US dollars before tax; VAT is added at checkout where it applies. Stripe is the merchant of record: it issues the invoice and handles VAT, and a business VAT ID entered at checkout appears on it. You can cancel anytime from the billing portal; paid features stay active until the end of the billing period. Uninstalling the bot does not cancel a subscription; deleting the workspace from Settings → Data cancels it immediately. The early-bird discount takes 80% off the first year of a Pro or Team plan: the first 12 monthly payments, or the first annual payment. After that the plan renews at the regular price.

Automatic renewal. A paid plan is a subscription that renews automatically at the end of each billing period, every month or every year as chosen at checkout, at the price shown before purchase plus tax where it applies, until you cancel. Stripe charges the payment method used at checkout. Before you subscribe, the dashboard shows these terms next to the upgrade buttons and asks you to agree to them. After you subscribe, we email the workspace's owner and billing contacts the renewal terms and how to cancel. We email again 30 days before an annual plan renews, 7 days before the first charge at the regular price after a discount ends, and at least once a year as a reminder. You can cancel online at any time on the dashboard's billing page under Manage subscription, or by writing to support@hijinks.team; cancelling stops all future charges.

Switching to a higher plan takes effect at once, and Stripe charges the prorated difference for the rest of the current billing period. Switching to a lower plan, or from annual to monthly billing, takes effect at the end of the current billing period; until then the current plan stays active. Cancelling keeps the paid plan active until the end of the period you have paid for. Payments are not refunded for partial billing periods, including when you cancel, switch to a lower plan or delete the workspace mid-period, except where the law requires a refund. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and the paid plan stays active for 14 days from the first failed attempt; after that the workspace runs on the Free plan's limits until a payment goes through. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends or a payment fails.

Availability & liability

We aim for boring reliability but offer no SLA during beta. The service is provided "as is"; to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.

Your data

How we handle data is in the privacy policy; a data processing agreement is available on request.

Termination

You can uninstall at any time; the workspace's data is deleted 30 days later, or at once if an owner deletes it from the dashboard. We may suspend workspaces that violate these terms, with notice where practical.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain.
